Good news abounds! I start work as a Reading tutor on Monday at the elementary school where my brother works. I get my own classroom and about 5-7 groups of 3rd and 5th grade students. I only have 5 students per group, so I'll be able to give them each lots of attention! Yay! This is even better than substitute-teaching.

Also, I just got word from my phlebotomy professor; he's sending me to Mt. Sinai in Miami Beach, FL in about 4 weeks to do my 2-week clinical internship! It's one of the best teaching-hospitals in the country, and it's right on the beach. I'M SO EXCITED! Things are finally starting to look up for me.

Now I just have to work super hard so I deserve all this good luck. ^.^

Side-note: I may be on the forums less, since I'll be working/going to school every day now (including weekends). I'll be around though, so I'll try to continue my posts in the RP forums as much as I can. Now, off to buy candy and stickers for my students! XD

Lmao! Classes are really fun! The first 2 days were kinda scary, but I'm getting things organized now. I love my students; they're so adorable. They give me hugs when I'm walking through the hallway, and one brought me chocolate today. :3

Did my first phlebotomy lab last night too. I got to draw "blood" (colored water) from a mannequin arm. Nailed it on the first shot. I can't wait for my clinical internship. The professor also let me bring my "blood"-filled test tubes home. Maybe I'll snap a pic of them and post it later.

For now...

Bed.

I'm so tired! X_x

I believe all of you are familiar with the reputation of Brazilian Carnaval (if you are not, well, a little research is always useful, and the animation movie Rio has a surprisingly accurate way of representing the splendor of the parade). This year, one of the performer schools from Rio de Janeiro decided to center their performance around musicals. For what I could see, a very beautiful parade, with violins playing a few moments in their theme samba, great costumes...

And, apparently, the male lead in the flashy golden suit (he appears from 12:07 to 14:40, give or take a few seconds) is in a Phantom of the Opera costume. You might find it is a Phantom costume from the mask he holds. Now think of RM Erik dancing in a Carnaval parade in that costume.

One of the other transfer students is named Christine. It's been two months and we've already established the following rule: you can only greet her by singing "Christine...Christine" a la Webber Phantom. I will not have a problem complying with that rule.

If I were there, I'd be intentionally trying to creep her out, sneaking around behind her, whispering/singing "I am your angel of music. Come to me, angel of music!"

SO, next Summer is my last semester before graduating and we are going to be taking our production of Lysistrata to Scotland for the Fringe Festival. And being the brat that I am, I'm taking advantage of the fact that I'll have already crossed the Atlantic so...if I'm going that far, might as well go a bit farther...

I've already mapped out my budget and it looks like this kids is going to be going to Paris. August 2013. Paris. Me. In Paris.

Hm. I visited Paris a few years ago and I don't recall visiting the Opera. I visited several other landmarks, and I think I might have a few pictures of the front of the Palais Garnier taken from afar, but I did not enter.

Not much of a big problem to me, though - I wasn't a Phantom fan back then, so, the opera house held no particular meaning to me. I still have a lifetime to visit Paris again and try to know it better, though.

Today, I saw a man who had no nose. Well, not "no nose" lack of nose - he had part of the cartilage, but the middle-lower part of the nose was... missing, and he had that particular "I can see your nasal cavities from over ten meters away, mister" look.

It looked like disfigurement from anything other than genetics, though. Chemical or physical trauma, perhaps - I am no specialist, so, I cannot determine the cause from a quick glance.

If Erik has that type of disfigurement... Poor Erik, indeed.

Random topic is random:

So, I've discovered there's a particular pattern to my form of crazy. I find it hilarious (or maybe I'm just crazy to think so..) so I thought I'd share!

  • Phase 1: I am going to be an average, unimportant yet content person. Yay! Image
  • Phase 2: I AM GOING TO BE THE NEXT GANDHI!! I CAN DO ANYTHING! I should save the world with my enlightened art-magic! Image
  • Phase 3: I am going to be the next Ted Bundy (completely neutral statement). I feel nothing about everything. Image
  • Phase 4: I am going to be the next Ted Bundy! What's WRONG with me?! Image
  • Phase 5: I am going to not be. What's the point of anything? Image (That was a weird impulse.... Let's not have that happen again, please?)
  • REPEAT!

All in all, I rather enjoy the shifting perspectives. It's mind-boggling and eye-opening. You can ask me the same question during different times of the year and get 2 completely opposing answers, and each time it's equally true to me. I'm quite in control of myself regardless, I just notice the change in feelings/lack of feelings from time to time, and I never let it affect my moral, social, or professional obligations/responsibilities (anymore). I wonder if anyone else here is familiar with this pattern?

Wow that bunny and Erik looked like it was a lot of work! Good job!

Wulphe it's good to know that you can be things that don't always make sense, I don't think everyone always knows who they are all the time or what they want. Especially when i was younger I had a lot of periods of feeling detached. To be honest I found a lot of my doubts came from horrible PMS and birth control helped balance my hormones. I have A LOT less mood downers now. I don't know if that is what you were looking for, but I think people are more closer to dysfunction then they like to admit.

Oh, I agree. I think everyone is some form of crazy. There's no such thing as a "normal" person.
Some kinds of crazy are from life shaping who you are, and some kinds are from being born with a weird chemical makeup, or weird brain pattern. I have the weird chemical makeup kind, so I already know what's wrong with me. ^.^ It's not puberty or monthly hormones; I am 24 after all. As a matter of fact, there's no hard science behind my diagnosis yet. I am bipolar, and in most cases doctors just throw lithium at people like me and hope for the best because they aren't really sure what chemicals are out of balance. I'm what they'd call "high functioning" though, so I rarely ever need medication. Plus, I don't really want it. I like the experience being crazy brings me. It's partly why I like Erik so much! It's just really interesting to go back and analyze my thoughts/feelings over a span of time.

I guess I randomly shared all that because I wondered if anyone else here had the same thing. Bipolar people are often found in the arts because of their ability to be passionate and obsessive and dramatic to a ridiculous degree. Many of us here are artists who were drawn to Erik, and I wonder if it's partly because some of us identify with him a little too well. XD

I tend to believe that "normal" is an euphemism for "boring". This being said, we artists are all interesting people (except when we aren't). Remember: admitting insanity is a sign of sanity, but claiming sanity is a clear sign of insanity. If you admit being insane to consider yourself sane, would that be a sign of insanity in itself?

The philosophy behind madness is maddening.

As of today, I'm 18 years old. That means plenty of things (some of them meaning I can do potentially stupid things, such as drinking, smoking, driving like a maniac, and buying me a sword - but I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't plan on driving like a lunatic, and a sword would be of no use to me).

But, more importantly, it means I ate a wonderful cake of marshmallow, chocolate and vanilla cream. Mmmm, cake.

You should buy a sword. I have one. I don't really use it, but it feels really empowering to take out, hold, and swing around once in a while. XD

Happy Birthday! May you have many more yet never look a day older than 20. :)

The Crypt Keeper? Yeah, we've got him:

Incidentally, this is also sorta like how I envision Erik. Skull head, very little hair, no nose, yellowish skin and eyes. If only the hair was black.

Crypt Keeper's got class too. Hmm....

This is a gift, it comes with a price. Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight and turns me to gold in the sunlight.

Crypt Keeper? Weird name xD

Anyways, I wonder if Erik can tell good horror stories? If yes: He got a twin brother :)

I bet Erik tells the best horror stories. I also bet he doesn't have to open a book to tell them, he just needs to recall some of his own life experiences.
